As we look back on 2025, we are proud of what has been a very strong year for SwissIX.
Over the past two years, traffic at SwissIX has grown by more than 50%, with an impressive 28% increase in 2025 alone.
This growth is driven by our continuously expanding peering ecosystem – many thanks to all our existing peers and as well to all our new connections. A full overview of all new peers and upgrades done in 2025 is available here:

We are particularly proud that by now the vast majority of Swiss ISPs are connected to SwissIX with redundant 100G ports – an important cornerstone for a fast and reliable Internet in Switzerland.
Operationally, 2025 was an excellent year. Our Nokia platform once again proved to be rock-solid with no equipment-related outages throughout the full year 2025. Traffic peaks are now regularly reaching close to 970 Gbps, placing SwissIX constantly at the edge of the terabit scale. Live sports broadcasts remain key traffic drivers, with UEFA Champions League and Formula 1 events generating the highest peaks.
Looking ahead, 2026 will be a special year: SwissIX celebrates its 25th anniversary! 🎉
We expect to surpass the 1 Tbps mark soon in our celebration year and we will be upgrading our core sites to 400G during Q1.
Furthermore we will be kicking off the year with the announcement of a new PoP in January and we plan to round off the winter by gathering peering people at an event towards the end of February.
